2010 New word for the year

Health
As you may or may not know my asthma has been giving me a great deal of trouble this winter so in 2010 I am rededicating myself to clean living and working on getting much healthier. Hope is ever present. Enjoy!

2010 Words for the New Year

I've been thinking a lot about 2009 word of the year, gentle. I have had a tough year in more ways than one, but I don't want to dwell on that. What I did realize sometime around July 2009, is that I hadn't really been all that gentle with myself. I am usually hardest on myself and I wanted to be more realist and softer with how I view myself and my reactions to crisis. I figured that if I was more gentle with myself, I would be calmer and could think clearer resulting in my being a better and a kinder person.

On to December 2009, the ladies at O'charlies asked me why I was so nice, I replied because I like to be. I realized that I am not as nice or considerate to my closest loved ones, my husband, Art, or Moby, my baby girl dog. Yes, I know everyone takes out things on those they love, but that doesn't make it right & it hurts your relationships in small ways, if not in large ways, too. Therefore, I decided for 2010 there will be 2 words, Gentle, since I don't feel I finished being gentle with myself, and kind for those I love the most, Art & Moby.

Words for 2010
Gentle & Kind
I hope you have a wonderful New Year.
I am looking forward to kinder, gentler and wonderful year for
myself, Art, my husband & Moby, my baby girl dog.

Back from the Holidays

We had a great time in Florida and worked hard in the yard as usual. Hope to have photos later today as the back yard is becoming the paradise, I envisioned.

Went to the doc yesterday, October virus that keeps on giving, developed into pleurisy(spelling). This inflamation of the outside lining of the lung is nothing serious (Mom), but can be painful. Thank goodness for drugs. I'll be right as rain in about 2 weeks or so.

On a happier note for this year, I'm looking forward to working on my christmas journal so I can finish it before February. Also, playing with my Etsy shop, social networking & maybe, maybe, even a new iphone to make it all happen. No pressure Art, honey, only when we can aford it. An exciting year to come.

Hope all is well with your New Year. Enjoy!

Buzy, just a peek!

Life has been very buzy, but here is just a peek at what I've been working on. I know I have missed 2 of my self-imposed deadlines, but it couldn't be helped. As soon as I figure out Etsy, I will list a few things there. Also, I'm doing a christmas art journal again with d'blogala this time. Journaling around and about Christmas did really seem to help with the Christmas Blues. We may be off to Florida for Thanksgiving, but the kitchen isn't finished yet. We'll see what happens. Enjoy!

The animals are characters in children's books, my husband, Art, and I are writing at this moment

Landscapes are painted from a variety of inspiration, on location, sketches, photos, and even memory. The Tennessee landscape is just starting to feel familiar after living here for 10 years. Maybe that's beacuse we haven't traveled at all this year. I am originally from Maine and I travel to Florida a lot, so I have quite a lot of visual memory of those places. When I only have time for a quick pencil sketch on location, the paintings would be finished in the studio with the help of the sketches and photos.

The abstract paintings come from experiements, I am happy with. They are a way for me to try new things, either colors, techniques, etc. and to grow. They don't fit into any particular style, but they always have my color palette and my mark making.
