I'm painting again, Yay;D! Terrific Tuesday, 7-31-12

Mts. Fog, Sea & Sky Work in Progress

I began painting in the studio with acrylic paint on a canvas that I just couldn't wrap my head around until today. It is always good to step back from my work, often I return with new eyes. This painting is one of those, this morning I could easily see the water reflections of the mountains. But, the mountains weren't there, truth be told, there was an ugly wide yellow streak on the left hand side. In the process of covering most of the yellow, the mountain started to appear. Once I saw a mountain, the others came into view quickly.
I tried to line the mountain & sea edges with a paintbrush, but the brush strokes were not definitive enough. Solution, photo the painting & import it into Sketchbook Pro. This worked beautifully, it was easy to digitally sketch the edges. No problems with raised textures, I could undo a line without smudges, etc.
Also, it ticks the Goal-Intention block of working digitally, but retaining a physical painting process, too. Last January, I dreamt of this digital/acrylic painting process in Stephanie Levy's Creative Courage online class. Although, it took 6 months of learning, experiencing life & being still with myself, I'm finally in this place. Why did it take so long? Well, 1st, this painting became to precious to work on, which stopped the great ideas from appearing. The original image of a Madonna is from a trip to Providenca, Colombia & the mountains are from a aerial view as we flew over southern China. 2nd, I'm creating much more complex paintings than I used to, in part due to Flora Bowley's Intuitive Painting class last February. 3rd, I just need percolating time, which is the magic. Even though, I'm much to impatient, this painting is a good lesson in trusting the process. The Madonna image happened years ago, more than I want to admit to & the mountain image occurred in 2008. I'm resetting my Intention keep filling the well, creating an environment I can be still in & most important, I'll try to be more patient.

Today, is a good day;D!

2 Hearts Together, Fabulous Friday 7-20-12

Playing with Digital Sketching - a while ago, I used a rainbow filter to add wild & wonderful color to a photo of 2 found stone hearts. Today, I used sketchbook pro to play with lines & color, similar to the way Wayne Thiebaud paints. This certainly is not finished, but I'm taking a breather to see what this piece wants to do next.

Enjoy & have a fabulous weekend;D!

Blogsy, iCab Mobile & In the Garden Today, Terrific Thursday 7-19-12

Cellspin, my former blogging app, is great for uploading individual photos, but not so good with a whole blog post containing photos & text. Yesterday, I worked all afternoon to learn blogsy, turns out I just needed to change my thinking. I still have a few things to work out, but I'm enjoying working with Blogsy. The switch in thinking came, when I decided to go with what I knew right then about creating a post with Blogsy. Cellspin allowed me to upload photos directly from my iPad, so far, I haven't figured how to do that with Blogsy. I did learn a round about way of creating a full blog post with text & photos/videos. 1st thing, in blogsy, I upload my photos to flickr & videos to youtube, then I can drag them into blogsy for a complete post. Yay;D! Blogsy does have the capability of direct upload, I just don't know how yet.

The 2nd thing I need to learn is how to multiple post to instagram, Facebook, etc., I'll work on that next week. I'll save direct posting for a later time, it may take me a long while, but I'm sure I will figure it out. I just keep asking the questions, I need answers to.

Another exciting discovery, I made on this creative hiatus, is a new browser called iCab Mobile. I may be as excited with this browser as I was getting Blogsy to work. Why you ask, well, I can access the design section of my blog with my iPad. My iPad is my only computer, it's so easy to use, especially with my sensitive wrists. My poor blog has been stagnant visually until now, because I couldn't save a design change with my iPad. Now, I haven't tested it fully, but I was able to add an email subscription widget. I need to test the email widget, then it's on to header change, etc., etc., we're cooking with gas as my Dad would say.

Hope you all have a Terrific Thursday;D! Sues
