islands & vaca yahoo!

Finally, decided to put some paint on an Maine island sketch. This small island next to Crow is painted in watercolor with a limited palette.

I am looking forward to more island sketching on our Florida vacation next week. Hopefully, some new sandbar islands to paint when i return.

the 4 reference photos are combined into this art journal painting. these abstract reflections on this sculpture are facinating to me, but i wanted to use my favorite blues.

islands & new beginnings

so i've finally done it. just jumped into the deep end. a blog and a flickr account.

here is where i will grow in leaps and bounds. where i will post my art for the week. (this week the art work is the island in the heading.) i'll learn to write a decent post and improve on my paintings. maybe even get organized in my work. we'll see about that last one - organization my just be too much to ask.

i have included a photo of a favorite small island in maine.
