End of Summer Morning Thoughts

Good to be back at Shelby Farms, just as weather is getting ready to change into fall. The grass has been mowed down, which makes for wider paths & easier walking. The yellow wild marigolds are much more visible among the fields with this shorter grass.

Today is the last hot day forecasted for the rest of the week at 95*. Starting tomorrow the temperature will be in the 80*s, a miracle temperature, but very welcome after the scorcher of a summer we've had this year. Rain is forecasted for tomorrow too, we certainly need it. I increased the garden watering to 3 hours just to keep things alive not for flowers. Ah, the joys of gardening, definitely continue working to get more native, deep tap rooted plants & trees over the next few year in preparation for the hot summers.
